Cougar Time (RtI)

What is RtI?

RtI stands for Response to Intervention.  Students receive 26 minutes a day for RtI, Cougar Time at CPA.   We focus on every student during this time with the understanding that every child has individual academic needs and needs to show growth.

The RTI process begins with your child’s teacher assessing the skills of everyone in the class. These assessments helps the teacher identify which specific skills need attention in an effort to improve them. We use Galileo testing at Crown Pointe and utilize the data to address the academic needs of each individual student. The teacher then break students into small groups tailored for different skill levels or learning styles. This is also known as differentiated instruction

Cougar Time is also when we can meet the needs of our ELL, SPED, and GT students.

All 5th - 8th grade students at Crown Pointe have access to a great new resource called Learning Farm (www.learningfarm.com). Learning Farm provides high quality practice and instruction designed for our state’s standards in a fun and engaging format. Learning Farm is a great supplement to the work our teachers and students are doing in the classroom. Your child can practice and reinforce knowledge and skills being taught at school by using Learning Farm at home on a computer or tablet. The program is very easy to use and is worked on 3 times a week in Cougar Time.  It is also easily accessed from home!  If you have any questions, please reach out to me so that I can help.
